Arazyme is patented as the first biologically derived dermabrasion, which is an extracellular protease (51.5kDA) extracted from a Korean orb spider (Nephila clavate). This highly versatile enzyme-based therapeutic agent selectively breaks down corneodesmosomes – a class of proteins that hold dead keratin-filled cells known as corneocytes together- thus, loosens up the dead skin cells. Furthermore, Arazyme replenishes ceramides to promote skin barrier function to maintain skin’s natural moisture balance while protecting against external aggressions. Besides, it reduces redness and soothes irritation.
